Ursuline Sister Jane Stuckenborg, 89, dies

Ursuline Sister of Louisville Jane Stuckenborg, 89, died May 29 at Norton Hospital. She was in her 71st year of religious life.

Sister Stuckenborg, a native of Louisville, ministered for 33 years in education. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at St. Vincent de Paul, St. Helen, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Mother of Sorrows, Sacred Heart Model, Immaculate Conception and St. Therese schools. She also taught in South Carolina, Indiana and Nebraska.

She ministered in Peru and taught at the Naval School in Lima, Peru, from 1968 to 1971. In her Ursuline congregation, she served various positions in finance and administration from 1977 to 1983.

Sister Stuckenborg also served on the congregation’s vocation team and leadership team from 1992 to 1996. She then ministered at Marian Home as social services coordinator. She was a member of the St. Helen School formation team, volunteered at Our Mother of Sorrows Church and as a receptionist at Brescia Hall on the Ursuline Campus.

She is survived by one niece, three nephews and members of the Ursuline community of sisters and associates.

The public is invited to watch the funeral services June 6 at 10 a.m. on Bosse Funeral Homes’ Facebook page. Burial in St. Michael Cemetery will follow. Attendees must remain in their car except for the few who are leading the service. All must leave immediately after the graveside service. A Memorial Mass will be offered at a later date.
