Three teachers at Trinity High School served as representatives from the Archdiocese of Louisville at the Science & Religion Seminar, an initiative of the University of Notre Dame’s McGrath Institute for Church Life this summer.

Trinity faculty members Michael Budniak, Benedictine Sister Kathy Cash and Holly McGuire took part in the conference at the university’s South Bend, Ind., campus. The program examined the “interface of science and religion” and aimed to assist teachers in developing “lesson plans integrating the two subject areas,” an announcement from the program said.

The initiative “assists schools in expanding the coordination among teachers and principals so that the interface becomes clearer to students who may at first think scientific approaches and Catholic theology are incompatible,” the release said.

“The students gain theological insights grounded in reason, plus scientific knowledge that boosts them toward faith-filled lives,” said Jay Martin, co-director of the initiative.

The McGrath Institute is now accepting applications for the 2018 seminars. Visit https://icl.nd.edu/seminar2018 for more information.
