Thea Bowman Institute to offer first class of 2019-2020

Janice Mulligan, associate director of African-American Catholic Ministry in the Office of Multicultural Ministry will present “Church History from an Africentric Perspective” on Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Catholic Enrichment Center, 3146 West Broadway.

This is the first class of the Thea Bowman Institute’s 2019-2020 season The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Thea Bowman program offers a certificate in African-American Ministry Studies.

“It forms students who are laity, religious and clergy in meaningful and effective ministry within the black community and fosters new leadership among the black people,” according to an announcement from the Office of Multicultural Ministry.

The cost of the session, which includes materials, a continental breakfast and a working lunch, is $25 per person. Participants may be responsible for the purchase of additional materials for the course.
