The 24th Festival of Faiths will be held April 24-27 at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, 501 West Main Street.
The 2019 festival, “Sacred Cosmos: Faith and Science,” will explore science through the lens of faith, with speakers examining themes such as loneliness and connection; the climate crisis; healing and resilience; and the nature of reality.
Panelists will include spiritual leaders, scholars, musicians and artists. Among them are:
– Vivek Murthy, the 19th United States Surgeon General;
– Woman Stands Shining (Pat McCabe), a Navajo mother, activist, artist, and ceremonial leader;
– Naweed Syed, a Muslim who was the first scientist to connect brain cells to a computer chip;
– Katharine Jeffers Schori, the first woman to be elected presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church.
The opening interfaith celebration will be held on April 24 at 5:45 p.m. at the Kentucky Science Center. The service is free and open to the public.
