The Catholic Committee on Scouting to hold its 70th annual prayer service

The Catholic Committee on Scouting will hold its 70th annual Prayer Service and Emblem Presentation at 2 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the Cathedral of the Assumption, 433 S. Fifth St.

Father Jeff Gatlin, chaplain of the Catholic Committee on Scouting, will preside at the prayer service.

Afterward, the committee will recognize Cub Scouts who earned the Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei emblems and Boy Scouts and Venture Crew members who have earned the Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII emblems. About 175 Scouts earned these emblems in 2015.

Four adults also will be honored for “outstanding contributions to Catholic Scouting.” They will receive the St. George Award.

Scout units are encouraged to bring their unit flags and American flags for a blessing. For more information, contact Charlie Hulsman at 396-6416 or archlouccs@gmail.com.
