Ryan Thompson, a sophomore at Holy Cross High School, floated on a raft constructed by students using empty plastic bottles. The rafts were part of a STREAM (science, technology, religion, engineering, art and math) project.
Holy Cross High School sophomores used more than 3,000 plastic bottles and ropes to build rafts which they tested in a YMCA pool.
The students used engineering skills learned in the school’s STREAM (science, technology, religion, engineering, art and math) program to build the rafts. Students also learned about the effects of plastic in waterways.
