Student wins national award for service

Record Staff Report
Peyton Grey, a senior at Sacred Heart Academy, has been honored for “exemplary volunteer service” with a certificate of excellence from the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards and a President’s Volunteer Service Award.

Grey raised more than $13,600 for Best Buddies Kentucky, a non-profit organization that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She has also donated close to 200 hours of service to the organization, according to a press release from the school.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards “honor young people across America for outstanding volunteer service,” said the release. The President’s Volunteer Service Awards “recognize Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country.”
