St. Xavier swim team wins state title

St.X logoSt. Xavier High School’s swim team won the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s (KHSAA) swimming and diving state championship at a competition held Feb. 23-25 at the University of Louisville’s Ralph Wright Natatorium.

Additionally, the team won the state title in the 200 freestyle relay.

Swimmers Martin Nitzken, Keefer Barnum, Conner Kang and Michael Eastman set a new state record in the 200 medley relay race. Swimmer Aldan Johnston set a state record in the 200 freestyle event.

Swimmers Aldan Johnston, Will Cole, Cole Brown and Michael Eastman set a state record in the 400 freestyle relay.

Aldan Johnston and Keefer Barnum earned the 2017 First Team All-State Swimming and Diving honors.

Michael Eastman and Martin Nitzken were named to the Second Team.
