St. Xavier High School has won the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Safe Sports School — 1st Team Award for its athletic program.
“The program recognizes high schools that help to keep young athletes safe. It also reinforces the importance of providing the best level of care, injury prevention and treatment,” said a statement from the school.
In order to achieve this status, athletic programs must do several things, including “creating a positive athletic health care administrative system” and “provide or coordinate pre-participation physical examinations,” the statement said.
“This recognition further differentiates St. Xavier High School as a leader in student development and a place where concerns for all students’ well-being and care is paramount,” said Dr. Perry Sangalli, president of St. X.
