St. Martin offers music program for children starting Sept. 16

St. Martin of Tours Church, 639 S. Shelby St., is offering a new academic music program for children of all ages, the Student Schola Program.

According to an announcement about the program, it aims to train students in music, form students in the music of the church, particularly Gregorian chant and foster an appreciation for the liturgy and sung worship.

No prior musical training is required, but first-time students should be old enough to read. Classes will meet every Wednesday, starting Sept. 16, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Martin of Tours Church.

The cost of tuition is $350 for one child, $500 for two children and $700 for three or more children. Tuition covers the cost of supplies, copyrights, music and assistants.

For more information or to support a student scholarship, contact the parish office at 582-2827. More information is also online at www.stmartinoftours.org.
