St. John Vianney Church, at 4839 Southside Dr. — the parish home of many in the local Vietnamese community — will confirm 31 children on Oct. 13.

The parish’s pastor, Father Anthony Chinh Ngo, said the number of children to be confirmed is the largest in the parish’s history. “They are well prepared,” he said in an email message to The Record, “and through them I can see the future of St. John Vianney parish, the church and our society.

Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz will confirm the children at the 11 a.m. Mass, which will also include a celebration of Vietnamese Martyrs.
