The annual “Raisin’ the Rent” party to raise funds for the St. John Center for homeless men will be held March 2 at the Olmsted, 3701 Frankfort Ave.
The event, which will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., is reminiscent of the days when friends hosted parties to help their neighbors raise money to pay their rent. This year the St. John Center, at 700 E. Muhammad Ali Blvd., is in special need of funds raised by the party. St. John’s is facing a $34,000 reduction in grant funding for the current fiscal year.
Tickets to “Raisin’ the Rent” are $25 in advance and can be purchased through the St. John Center. They will be $30 at the door.
The party will include music by The Remedy, with hors d’oeuvres and a light dinner served by Masterson’s Catering. It will also include dancing, silent and live auctions with Steve Hale serving as the auctioneer and emcee for the evening. A cash bar will also be available.
