A statue of St. Gregory was blessed Aug. 25 on the grounds of St. Gregory Church in Samuels, Ky. Parishioners gathered around as Father Peter Do, left, former pastor, and Father Kien Nguyen, the parish’s administrator, blessed the figure made in Italy. The cost of the statue, $28,000, was raised largely through the estate of the late Deacon Joseph Livers and his wife Rita. Father Do noted that the couple’s daughter invited the parish to help with a yard sale of the estate for the parish’s benefit. It raised $20,000, which was used to help fund the statue. The couple had previously helped the parish erect a statue of the Blessed Mother, he said.
