Cathy Balbach, an art teacher at St. Gabriel School, has been named the Kentucky Elementary Art Educator of the Year by the Kentucky Art Education Association.
The recognition honors her “outstanding work with elementary school students,” an announcement from association said. She was selected by her peers — teachers from both public and private schools — at the association’s conference on Oct. 9. She will also compete as the Kentucky Art Educator of the Year for the national award in 2016.
