St. Catharine faculty to speak at Plowshares celebration June 18

Plowshares Farm Center for Education and Spirituality in Buffalo, Ky., will hold its third annual Summer Solstice Celebration on June 18 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The day will include crafts and games for families, presentations by St. Catharine College faculty and a concert by folk musician Peter Mayer.

Dr. Leah Bayens, director of the Berry Farming Program at St. Catharine College, will present “What Does Wendell Berry Have to Say About Sustainability?” at 3:30 p.m. St. Catharine religious studies professor Matt Branstetter will present “The Mystical Dimension of Ecology” at 4:30 p.m.

Those in the Louisville area who’d like to attend may reserve a spot on a bus that will depart from St. Agnes Church for $25. Reservations for the bus must be made by June 10.

Admission is $25 in advance for those 13 and older. Children ages 3 to 12 are $10 in advance. Families rate is $59 in advance. For more information, call 270-735-5265 or email plwshare@scrtc.com.
