St. Catharine College prepares to install new president

St.CatharineCollegelogo-wSt. Catharine College in Springfield, Ky., is hosting a weeklong celebration beginning Oct. 17 to honor Dr. Cindy Gnadinger, who will be installed as the college’s new president on Oct. 23.

The inauguration-week events include:

  •  Oct. 17 — Teams of volunteers from St. Catharine College will take part in a day of service around Washington County.
  • Oct. 19 — A ceremony to bless the school’s new educational farm will take place at 4 p.m. Guests are asked to park on campus. A shuttle service will be available to provide transportation from campus to the farm.
  • Oct. 20 — Kristin Kimball, author of “The Dirty Life: A Memoir of Farming, Food and Love,” will speak at 12:30 p.m. in St. Catharine Hall.
  • Oct. 21 — New Pioneers for a Sustainable Future and the Berry Farming Program will host a screening of the documentary, “The End of the Line,” in the college’s Pettus Auditorium from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The film focuses on the efforts of the Dominican Sisters, Sisters of Loretto  and others in Central Kentucky to stop the building of the Bluegrass Pipeline. A panel discussion and reception will follow.
  • Oct. 23 — An inauguration Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Catharine Hall, followed by a luncheon. The inauguration ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in St. Catharine Hall. Guests may make reservations for the Mass, luncheon and ceremony at www.sccky.edu/inauguration/registration.php.
