The original caption of the photo read “Second grade students at St. Brigid School and their teacher, Miss Mary Elizabeth Lyon, assemble in a circle during a reading class. Miss Lyon teaches the second and third grades at the school, which has an all-lay staff.”

According to the website of the Archdiocese of Louisville, St. Brigid School closed in 1972.
