DeSales picnic

DeSales High School will host its summer picnic June 22 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
There will be live music, chicken dinners, ice cream, children’s booths, poker tables, raffles and more.

Documentary

A documentary called “A Potter’s Field,” featuring students from Trinity, Assumption and St. Xavier high schools premiered at the 5th annual Flyover Film Festival June 12 at the Clifton Center.
The documentary follows members of the St. Joseph of Arimathea Society. These students act as pall bearers and provide a Christian burial service for deceased individuals in Jefferson County who do not have the funds to be buried in a private cemetery.

Kindergarten fun

Kindergarten Countdown, a series of events for students entering kindergarten, will be hosted at various locations in Louisville this summer. Children entering Kindergarten will receive a free Kindergarten Countdown t-shirt and book. One child and an accompanying adult get in to each event at no charge. Stop by any Louisville Free Public Library to register. Upcoming events are below.
The next event will be at Calypso Cove, Northeast YMCA, 9400 Mill Brook Road. Those with last names beginning in A-L will meet June 20 and participants with last names beginning with M-Z will meet June 27. Both groups will gather from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Louisville Zoo — June 21 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Walden Theatre — June 21 and 28, July 26 and Aug. 9 at 1 p.m.
StageOne — June 22, July 13 and Aug. 3 at 10 a.m.

Teen workshop

The Passionist Earth & Spirit Center, 1924 Newburg Road, will present a workshop for high school students July 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The workshop is called “Our Place in the Universe” and will look at “our understanding of the universe and our place within it,” a news release from the center said.
The cost of the workshop, which includes lunch and refreshments, is $20 and must be paid by June 25. After June 30, the cost is $30. Scholarships are available upon request.
