Sr. Ann Jeanette Effinger, 92, dies Dec. 15 at Nazareth Home

SCNSister of Charity of Nazareth Ann Jeanette Effinger, 92, died Dec. 15 at Nazareth Home. She had been a religious for 74 years.

Sister Effinger served as a teacher and principal at schools in Kentucky, Virginia, Massachusetts, Ohio, Tennessee and Mississippi. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at Holy Family and Holy Name schools, and served as a tutor at Most Blessed Sacrament School. She was also a teacher and principal at Community Catholic School and had been a resident of Nazareth Home since 2009.

Survivors include a brother, George D. Effinger; five sisters, Mary E. Guelda, Cecilia E. Mazzoni, Marie E. Sullivan, Barbara E. Russell and Carolyn E. Foerster, all of Louisville, and members of her religious community.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at Nazareth Home, 2000 Newburg Road, on Dec. 17. A prayer service will be held in St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, Ky., at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 17, followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.
