Spalding hosts 44th Running of the Rodents

Audrey Cecil, above, placed rats into position at the starting gate during the 44th annual “Running of the Rodents” race at the Spalding University College Street Ballroom April 14. Teams of students spent weeks training the rodents to race around a miniature track for the grand prize, a garland of fruit-flavored cereal. The “rat race” has become a Derby tradition at Spalding. Below, students try to keep rats on the race course. This year’s theme was “Superheroes: Rat Racers Assemble.”
