South East Associated Ministries to host neighborhood picnic and movie

South East Associated Ministries (SEAM), 6500 Six Mile Lane, will host a Community Picnic & Movie July 15 at 5 p.m.

The evening’s activities — co-hosted by the Guiding Light Islamic Center — will include barbecue, water slides, activities for kids/teens, crafts, popcorn and soft drinks. The outdoor movie will begin at sundown. The event is free and open to the public.

SEAM offers emergency food and financial assistance to individuals and families in the 40218 and 40220 ZIP codes. Because of SEAM’s efforts in 2016, 10,231 individuals and 4,087 children received food assistance. In addition, 372 families received electric, water and rent assistance; 270 families received Thanksgiving meals; and 250 children received backpacks containing school supply donations.

Ascension, St. Bartholomew, St. John Paul II and St. Martha churches are among the 16 faith partners represented in SEAM.
