Sisters of Charity join in prayer leading up to November elections

RecordLogo-FThe Sisters of Charity of Nazareth will enter into prayer and fasting for wisdom and discernment as the November elections approach.

In a statement issued by the congregation, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth said “as a congregation, and as a member of the Charity Federation, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth feel impelled to enter into deep prayer for all of the electorate, the candidates (national, state and local) and those who govern.”

The SCNs call upon those in communities in Kentucky and beyond, to join in prayer and fasting on the second Tuesday of every month, beginning July 12, leading up to the 2016 elections, a statement from the congregation said.

“We extend this invitation to those of all faiths to join us in prayer. We pray that all of us, including our leaders, experience a strong desire to work for the common good of all peoples, especially the most vulnerable,” the statement said. “We pray that together, we move through the election process with respect, compassion and in a non-violent manner.”
