The Office of Lifelong Formation and Education received a grant from the WHAS Crusade for Children totaling $45,244.
The grant — to be used during the 2016-2017 academic year — will go toward the following items:
- Infrared classroom sound systems — These systems aid students who have hearing loss, identified auditory issues and students who have difficulty maintaining focus and attention.
- iPads — This hands-on technology supports remediation and reinforcement of skills in an interactive way.
- Sensory items — These items benefit students with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, attention deficit disorder, sensory processing deficits and dyspraxia.
- Assessment and screening tools — These tools allow for additional resources to screen students to identify specific skills that need remediation and additional levels of support necessary for students to experience success.
- Reading support materials — These materials help to build reading fluency and comprehension in struggling readers.
