Sister of Mercy Mary Magdala Janz dies at 88

Sister of Mercy Mary Magdala Janz, 88, died at McAuley Convent in Cincinnati June 17. She had been a Sister of Mercy for 65 years.

Sister Janz, a native of Cincinnati, primarily served in education throughout her ministry. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at Mercy Academy from 1966 to 1981. She also served in a variety of roles at local parishes, including Immaculate Conception Church in La Grange, Ky. Following her retirement, she continued to minister in the RCIA programs at St. James and St. Brigid churches.

She is survived by her sister Frances Janz and her Mercy community. The Mass of Christian Burial was held June 22 at Immaculate Conception with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
