Sister of Mercy Mary Michaela Clasby, a member of the first graduating class of Assumption High School, died Oct. 6 at the St. Catherine Convent. She was 72 and had been a Sister of Mercy for 54 years.
Sister Clasby graduated from Assumption High School in 1958, and also taught at the school and at Mercy Academy. At Assumption, she also served as assistant principal and later executive secretary until her retirement in 2001.
Survivors include members of her religious community and many friends, including Rosemary Bisig Smith.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Oct. 10 at St. Raphael the Archangel Church. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sisters of Mercy Ministry Fund.
