Sister of Charity of Nazareth Lucille Massey dies at 100

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Lucille Massey, formerly Sister Teresa George, died at Nazareth Home in Louisville on Jan. 9. She was 100 years old and had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 81 years.

Sister Massey, a native of Bowling Green, Ky., served in elementary education as both a teacher and supervisor for 39 years. She served as the supervisor of elementary schools for the Archdiocese of Louisville and taught at St. Cecilia School. She also served as an instructor in the education department of Nazareth College, now Spalding University.

She is survived by a nephew, John Baker, and her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Jan. 12 at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, Ky., at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Jan. 11 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Nazareth Home and after 4 p.m. in St. Vincent Church. There will be a prayer service in St. Vincent Church at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
