Sister John Edith O’Meara dies at at 91 at Nazareth Home

Sister of Charity of Nazareth John Edith O’Meara, 91, died at Nazareth Home Aug. 26. She had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 64 years.

Sister O’Meara, a native of Beverly, Md., served in elementary education as a teacher and librarian in Massachusetts and Maryland for 49 years. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served in the apostolate of prayer at Russell Hall and at the Nazareth Motherhouse.

Survivors include a sister, Edith Shirley Brian of Mt. Morris, N.Y.; a brother, Robert O’Meara of Lynn, Mass.; and her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 30 at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, Ky., with burial in Nazareth Cemetery.
