Sister Catherine Nix, a teacher, dies at 84

SCNLogo2015Sister of Charity of Nazareth Catherine Nix died at Nazareth Home on Jan. 11.  She was 84 and had been an SCN for 62 years.

She served as an elementary school teacher in Ohio, Tennessee and Kentucky. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served at St. Augustine, St. Thomas More, St. Cecilia, St. Patrick schools in Louisville and St. Thomas School in Bardstown, Ky. She later served as a home health caregiver in Bardstown.

Sister Nix is survived by her sister, Margaret Blandford, nieces, nephews and her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Jan. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, Ky.

Visitation will be Jan. 17 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Nazareth Home and after 4 p.m. at St. Vincent. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m.
