Sister of Charity of Nazareth Anne Rita Mauck, founder of The de Paul School, died Aug. 28 at Nazareth Home. She was 90 and in her 69th year of religious life.

Sister Mauck, a native of Bridgeport, Ohio, served as an educator in Maryland, Arizona and Kentucky.
In 1970, Sister Mauck founded The de Paul School, 1925 Duker Ave., which serves students with learning differences.

She served as executive director of The de Paul School until 1994, but continued to serve as a board member and volunteer until the time of her death. Sister Mauck also served in education ministry at St. Patrick School and as principal of St. Gabriel School.

Sister Mauck served as director of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth associates and was later elected head of the congregation’s Southern region.

Sister Mauck is survived by several nieces, nephews and members of her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sept. 1 at 10:30 at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, Ky., followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today, Aug. 31, at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held in St. Vincent Church Sept. 1 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
