Sister Anita Hager, SCN, educator and librarian, dies

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Anita Hager, a native of Henderson, Ky., died at Nazareth Home in Louisville on Jan. 27 at the age of 89. She was a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 66 years.

Sister Hager served as an educator and librarian in schools in Kentucky, Massachusetts and Ohio, including St. Agnes School in Louisville.

She also set up a library catalog system for a school in Belize and worked in social service in Covington, Ky.

She also served as manager of the bookstore at Catharine Spalding Center and as the librarian at the Motherhouse, both in Nazareth, Ky.

Sister Hager is survived by her nieces and nephews and by her religious community.

The wake will be held Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Nazareth, Ky. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Feb. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial will be in Nazareth Cemetery.
