Shively Area Ministries will celebrate 30 years of service

Shively Area Ministries will celebrate 30 years of responding to persons in poverty or crisis in the 40216 zip code at the organization’s annual fundraising event Oct. 2 at the Crown Plaza, 830 Phillips Lane.

Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and a concert featuring the Monarchs will take place at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $50 per person or $425 per table of 10. For more information, call 447-4330, ext. 23.

The area ministry provides emergency assistance for food, rent, utilities, meals on wheels and medication.

Ursuline Sister of Louisville Jean Anne Zappa, SAM’s mission advancement coordinator, will be honored with the “Enthusiasm for the Mission” award. Charlie and Melinda Tewell will be recognized with the “Make a Difference” award.

Mary Queen of Peace and St. Lawrence churches are among the 26 faith partners represented in SAM.
