Service will remember victims of violence and genocide

genocideservice1-4.21.16-sThe ninth annual Memorial Service for Victims of Violence, War and Genocide in Africa will be held April 8 at St. Thomas More Church, 6105 S. Third St.

The interfaith service is organized each year “to commemorate the lives of the victims of violence, war and genocide in Africa through prayer and song,” according to a press release from the Office of Multicultural Ministry, which sponsors the event.

Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz will preside. Prelude music, provided by community choirs, will begin at 11:30 a.m. The service will begin at noon. A reception will follow.
