SCN Margaret Patrick Gallagher dies at age 95

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Margaret Patrick Gallagher died at Nazareth Home on Feb. 7. She was 95 and had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 76 years.

Sister Gallagher, a native of Bridgeport, Ohio, served in elementary education as a teacher in Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio for 26 years. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, Sister Gallagher served as a teacher at St. Philip Neri School from 1943-45 and at St. Augustine School from 1954-56.

For 22 years, Sister Gallagher also served as food supervisor in Kentucky and Massachusetts. From 1988-94 she served in community service, food purchasing and transportation at Morrison Hall.

She served in the Apostolate of Prayer at Maria Hall and Nazareth Home from 2003.

Sister Gallagher is survived by nieces, nephews and members of her religious community.

Visitation will take place Feb. 10 at Nazareth Home from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and after 4 p.m. in St. Vincent Church. There will be a prayer service in St. Vincent at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Feb. 11 in St. Vincent Church at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.
