SCN Helen Carbol, an educator, dies at age 92

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Helen Carbol, formerly Frederica Carbol, died April 14 in Nazareth, Ky. She was 92 and had been an SCN for 67 years.

Sister Carbol, a native of Lansing, Ohio, ministered as an educator in Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland.

In Kentucky, Sister Carbol served as principal at Resurrection School in Louisville. She also taught history at La Sallete Academy in Covington, Ky.

From 1995-1998, Sister Carbol served as an English teacher at the Sisters of Holy Family of Nazareth High School in Warsaw, Poland.

Sister Carbol also served her community in various ministries in Bardstown and Louisville from 1998-2011

She is survived by her brother John F. Carbol of Grove City, Ohio, her sister Mary Dolores Crawford of Elyria, Ohio and by members of her religious community.

Sister Carbol was buried April 16 in Nazareth Cemetery. The Mass of Christian Burial was filmed and shared on the SCN Facebook page. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
