Sacred Heart wins CSAL tourney

Sacred Heart Model School won the Catholic School Academic League’s sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade Quick Recall tournament held Nov. 11 at Notre Dame Academy, 1927 Lewiston Drive.

And, St. Margaret Mary School was named the winner of the sixth-grade Quick Recall tournament, held Nov. 7 at St. Gabriel School, 5503 Bardstown Road.

In the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade division, Sacred Heart Model defeated St. Margaret Mary-Black in one semi-final match 29-22 and St. Agnes-Blue defeated St. Margaret Mary-White 31-25 in the other semi-final match. Sacred Heart Model defeated St. Agnes-Blue in the championship match 32-31 to win the tournament for the third consecutive year.

Thirty-nine teams from 27 schools participated in the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade league this season.

In the sixth-grade division, Holy Trinity-White defeated St. Albert-Gold 13-9 in one semi-final match, and St. Margaret Mary-Black defeated Holy

Trinity-Green 14-12 in the other semi-final match. St. Margaret Mary-Black defeated Holy Trinity-White in the final match 21-16, capping off an undefeated season of 11-0.

Twenty-four teams from 16 schools participated in the sixth-grade league this season.
