Twenty-three members of the Sacred Heart Academy class of 2017 have earned the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma awarded by the International Baccalaureate Organization based in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to a news release from the school, students earn an IB diploma by completing a rigorous curriculum of IB courses over two years, passing 25 hours of international exams, completing a minimum of 150 hours of CAS (creativity, action and service) and writing a 4,000-word essay.
Ninety-six percent of Sacred Heart’s 2017 IB diploma candidates earned the diploma. This compares to a rate of 80 percent in the world, the release said.
