Queen’s Daughters to host ‘Mary’s Day’ with procession, luncheon

The Queen’s Daughters, a charitable service group in the Archdiocese of Louisville, will host its annual May crowning service at Holy Family Church, 3926 Poplar Level Road, May 21.

The procession and Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Father B.J. Breen, chaplain for the Queen’s Daughters, will preside.

Attendees are encouraged to bring flowers for the procession.

The rosary will be prayed following the Mass, and a lunch will follow in the Saffin Center.

At the luncheon, the Queen’s Daughters will award scholarships to four eighth-graders who plan to attend a Catholic high school in the archdiocese.

Each of the four students will receive $2,000 per year for four years to be used at the high school of their choice.

This year’s scholarship award winners are:

Sofia Carroz-Criollo of St. Edward School, who will attend Assumption High School;

Anna Kisling of St. Nicholas Academy, who will attend Presentation Academy;

Joshua Pilkerton of St. Nicholas Academy, who will attend DeSales High School;

Zachary Sutherland of St. Leonard School, who will attend DeSales High School.

Applicants were recommended by their principals.

Reservations for the luncheon are required by May 14.

The cost is $21 per person or $147 for a table of seven. For reservations, mail checks to Margaret Reinhart, 8211 Camberley Drive, Louisville, Ky., 40222.
