Claire Ackerson, a member of Holy Spirit Church, looked at a school supply list as she worked to fill a backpack at the church on Lexington Road, Aug. 1. St. Bernadette Church’s confirmation class and members of Holy Spirit Church collected and filled backpacks with school supplies for more than 80 students who receive services at Community Catholic Center in the Portland neighborhood. Members of St. Bernadette also wrote letters to the recipients.
