Parishes hold ‘Guadalupe’ celebrations

Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe today, Dec. 12, at Epiphany Church, 914 Harrods Creek Road, with a 5 a.m. service. A Mañanitas took place before Mass.

Archbishop Kurtz will preside a second celebration at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Hodgenville, Ky.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, also known as the Virgin of Guadalupe, is the patroness of Mexico and the Americas. The feast day is Dec. 12.

Other parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Louisville will hold services and liturgies later today. They include:

  • St. Rita Church, 8709 Preston Highway — Mass will be celebrated Dec. 12 at 7:00 p.m. in honor of St. Juan Diego.
  • Immaculate Conception Church in La Grange, Ky. — Mass will be at 7 p.m., followed by a gathering.
  • St. Edward Church, 9602 Sue Helen Drive — Mass will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 12. It will be followed by a gathering.
  • St. Bartholomew Church, 2042 Buechel Bank Road — There will be a procession at 7 p.m. followed by Mass. A dinner and fiesta will follow Mass.
  • St. Peter the Apostle Church, 5431 Johnsontown Road — A procession will take place at 7 p.m. followed by Mass at St. Andrew Academy chapel. A play about the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe and a gathering will follow.
  • Annunciation Church in Shelbyville, Ky. — Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m.
  • St. Helen Church in Glasgow, Ky. — Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m., followed by a reception in the parish center.
  • Emmanuel Church in Albany, Ky. — The rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. followed by Mass at 6 p.m. Dec. 12. A gathering will take place after the Mass.
  • Christ the King Church in Tompkinsville, Ky. — Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m., followed by the rosary and a gathering.
  • St. Bernard Church in Clementsville, Ky. — Mass will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m., followed by a procession and a gathering.
