Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz made the following appointment, effective June 16:
Reverend Patrick J. Dolan has been named administrator pro-tempore of Good Shepherd Church in Columbia, Ky., Holy Redeemer Church in Greensburg, Ky., and Holy Spirit Church in Jamestown, Ky.
Father Dolan, born in an orphanage in Chicago, studied at St. Louis University and Pontifical North American College for major seminary. He was ordained on May 27, 1978.
Since his ordination, he has served as pastor of the following parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville: Holy Rosary, Springfield; St. Christopher, Radcliff; St. Bernard and Sacred Heart, Liberty (and administrator); and St. Teresa of Calcutta.
He also served as administrator of Our Lady Help of Christians Church and St. Patrick Church in West Point, Ky. He served as associate pastor of St. James Church, St. Augustine in Lebanon and Immaculate Conception in La Grange, as well as at SS. Peter and Paul in Danville, Ky., and St. Mary in Perryville, Ky., now part of the Lexington Diocese.
Father Dolan has also served as a chaplain, part-time at Presentation Academy and for the Military Ordinariate in the U.S. Army.
He completed post-graduate studies at Indiana University, earning a master’s degree in organic chemistry and Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry, and at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas (Angelicum) earning a sacred theology licentiate and sacred theology doctorate. He has served in the U.S. Army and National Guard from June 1987 to the present.
Father Dolan has also served as a Defender of the Bond for the Metropolitan Tribunal and on the following committees: Louisville Section of the American Chemical Society, Faithful Friar to the MSGR McGee Assembly of the 4th Degree, Knights of Columbus, St. Francis de Sales Committee Assembly and State Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus.
He has served on the Priests’ Council as a representative of regions 3 and 10.
