Nine educators retiring after 40 years

Nine educators with more than 40 years of service in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville are retiring this summer. An additional 10 educators will retire after 30-plus years of service.

A total of 47 educators are retiring from Catholic schools in the archdiocese, according to a list provided by the Catholic Schools Office.

Those retiring following more than 40 years of service are:

 Peggy Broderick, a counselor at St. Martha School, is retiring after 46 years.

 Marty Murphy, a teacher at Holy Spirit School, is retiring after 45 years.

 Virginia Hamilton, principal of St. Augustine School in Lebanon, Ky., is retiring after 44 years.

 Vicki Davis, an eighth-grade teacher at John Paul II Academy, is retiring after 43 years.

 Kitty Schloemer, assistant principal of St. Mary Academy, is retiring after 43 years.

 Mary Jane Spaulding, a second-grade teacher at St. Dominic School in Springfield, Ky., is retiring after 43 years.

 Cathy Edelen, a middle school teacher at St. Gregory School in Samuels, Ky., is retiring after 42 years.

 Charlotte Carlton, a teacher at St. Michael School, is retiring after 41 years.

 Carol Bissmeyer, a reading resource teacher at Holy Trinity School, is retiring after 40 years.

Those retiring after 30 or more years of service in the archdiocese are:

 Cheryl House, a kindergarten teacher at St. Agnes School, is retiring after 39 years.

 Nan Murphy, a social studies teacher at Holy Trinity, is retiring after 39 years.

 Martha Lies, a first-grade teacher at St. Agnes, is retiring after 38 years.

 Bernice Scherr, principal of Notre Dame Academy, is retiring after 38 years.

 Paula Do, a third-grade teacher at St. Francis of Assisi School, is retiring after 36 years.

 Joyce Wicke, a junior high language arts teacher at St. Margaret Mary School, is retiring after 35 years.

 Bernadette Cooper, principal of St. Albert the Great School, is retiring after 34 years.

 Margaret Robben, a teacher at St. Stephen Martyr School, is retiring after 34 years.

 Kathleen Thompson, a music teacher at St. Athanasius School, is retiring after 34 years.

 Martha Troncone, a kindergarten teacher at St. Albert the Great, is retiring after 30 years.

Several other schools will see transitions in leadership when school begins again in August.

Ellen Martin will be the principal of St. Albert the Great. Elaine Bachman will be the principal of Notre Dame. Jen Burba will be the principal of St. Paul. Jill Tabor will be the principal of St. Raphael School. And, Paul Terrell will be the principal of St. Augustine.
