Next Thea Bowman Certificate Class will be held this weekend

The Office of Multicultural Ministry (OMM) will offer its next Thea Bowman Certificate Class Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Maloney Center, 1200 S. Shelby Street,

The course topic is “Discerning your place in the Catholic Church” and is designed for young adults. The presenter is Dr. Timone Davis, assistant professor of pastoral theology at the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago.

The cost of the session is $25 per person in advance and $30 day of, which includes materials and a working lunch.

The Thea Bowman Program offers a certificate in African American Ministry Studies. “It forms students who are laity, religious and clergy in meaningful and effective ministry within the Black community and fosters new leadership among Black people,” a news release from OMM said.
