Sr. Celeste Reedy dies after 77 years of religious life

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Celeste Reedy, a native of Newport, Ky., died on Feb. 22 at Nazareth Home. She was 97 and had been a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 77 years.

Sister Reedy, formerly known as Sister Margaret Alberta, served in education in Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio, including the old St. Frances of Rome School. She also served in pastoral ministry at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital.

She served her religious community in provincial administration as secretary-treasurer, in generalate administration as secretary general, in the communications office and in the Sisters of Charity Mission Office, later known as the Office of Mission Advancement.

Sister Reedy is survived by her extended family and her religious community.

A prayer service will be held at Nazareth Home on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. The wake will follow at 6:30 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Nazareth, Ky.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Feb. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, followed by burial in Nazareth cemetery.
