Nazareth Home to provide music for its residents

The staff of Nazareth Home, 2000 Newburg Road, was trained via webinar in mid-September to set up and manage a system to provide music playlists for its nursing home residents.

The training was presented by Music and Memory Program which trains and certifies nursing facilities to create an iTunes music library for residents to use on electronic devices, such as iPods.

A press release from the home said music helps people suffering from dementia, as well as those feeling isolated and depressed. Music also can be therapeutic for those suffering from Parkinson’s disease and those who can’t communicate, the news release said.
