Mercy Academy’s theatre troupe was named “Kentucky Chapter Select” by the International Thespian Society — a theater honors society for middle and high school students — at the Thespian Festival which took place Oct. 29 at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky.

Mercy Theatre will represent Kentucky at the National Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Neb., June 19-24 of next year.

The troupe performed the Spanish and English play “Señora Tortuga” at the festival. They also performed the play at the school and at three branches of the Louisville Free Public Library earlier this year.
