Memorial Day ‘salute’ planned at St. Michael Cemetery on May 30

“Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes” will be held at St. Michael Cemetery, 1153 Charles Street, at noon on May 30.

Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Louisville is joining thousands of Catholic cemeteries around the United States “in a national celebration to honor men and women who died while serving in the Armed Forces,” an announcement from Catholic Cemeteries said.

The event also will recognize active military and veterans, the announcement said.

Families are invited to place prayers and tribute letters for past and present military members in a box located at the front of the Catholic Cemeteries office building at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road.

Families are invited to place photos of past and present military members on a display board in the Catholic Cemeteries office.

These prayers and photos will be collected and buried following the service on May 30. For more information, call 451-7710.
