Sister Mary Elizabeth Driscoll, a Maryknoll Sister who served in the Archdiocese of Louisville for 27 years, died Oct. 2 in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. She was 90 years old and celebrated her 70th anniversary as a Maryknoll Sister in September.
Sister Driscoll, a native of Portland, Ore., served as an educator, aided impoverished people and worked with novices. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth at Sister Visitor Center for eight years beginning in 1982.
From 1989 to 1997, she taught students in the Bardstown, Ky., Creative Education Center. Later, she volunteered at St. Monica Church in Bardstown as a pastoral visitor. She served in the archdiocese until 2009 and retired in 2010.
She is survived by a sister, Carolyn Neely of Boise, Idaho.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Oct. 8 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center main chapel in Ossining, N.Y. Burial was in the Maryknoll Sisters’ Cemetery.
