Local Filipino community to celebrate

The Church of the Ascension at 4600 Lynnbrook Drive, will host a special Advent celebration for the Filipino community, led by Archdiocese of Louisville Father Jeff Estacio, a native of the Philippines.

The Simbang Gabi — evening Mass — will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 19, and a reception will follow after the Mass.

The event marks the second annual celebration sponsored by the Archdiocese of Louisville Office of Multicultural Ministry’s Filipino ministry.

The reception will feature a potluck dinner and those attending are urged to bring their favorite Filipino dish or snacks. Attendees are also urged to bring a two liter drink to share.

The Mass and reception is for both the Filipino community in the Archdiocese of Louisville and those in the Filipino community in Southern Indiana. It is a way for the community to say Maligayang Pasko — Merry Christmas — to one another.
