Kentucky School Choice Rally planned Jan. 27 in Frankfort

CCK logo-fThe Catholic Conference of Kentucky is encouraging parents, educators, students and elected officials to join them in Frankfort, Ky., Jan. 27 for the Kentucky School Choice Week Rally.

The rally will convene on the steps of the capitol at 10 a.m. EdChoice Kentucky will cover the cost of bus transportation to the rally for students and families. Space will be available on a first-come basis.

Attendees are also encouraged to take a tour of the capitol, visit legislative offices and learn about how to get involved.

The Catholic Conference of Kentucky is the public policy arm of the state’s bishops. EdChoice is a coalition seeking to pass school-choice legislation in the Kentucky General Assembly. A measure proposed in last year’s legislative session sought to provide tax credits to businesses that donate to  scholarship-granting organizations, such as the Catholic Education Foundation.

Advocates say the scholarships will enable more students, including low-income students, to attend Catholic schools and other private schools.

For more information or if your parish, school or organization wants to attend as a group, email Andrew Vandiver at avandiver@ccky.org.
