Inaugural service for new ecumenical group in Lyndon planned for Jan. 25

The new Lyndon Ecumenical Fellowship will hold its first service at the end of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which runs from Jan. 18 to 25. Members of the fellowship are St. Margaret Mary Church, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and Lyndon Baptist Church.

The service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 25 at Lyndon Baptist, 8025 New La Grange Road. The service will follow a 12:30 p.m. luncheon in the church’s Goldsby Hall.

Pastors of the three churches began talking about ways they could work together more than a year ago. They have since developed a document — approved by their congregations — that commits the churches to several things, a press release from the group said.

Among them are commitments to: worship together on special occasions; study together; provide fellowship opportunities to create community; welcome one another to church programs; and seek opportunities to witness to the Gospel together, the release said.
